Gabriela Pelin is a C-suit executive and board adviser in healthcare technology with cross sector experience in business strategy, technology R&D, corporate financial management, M&A, restructuring and transformation. She is a creative strategic leader able to excel in unstructured and challenging environments and has a proven track record in defining the mission, values and strategy, and taking them to build and transform new businesses, companies, and large market organizations from the ground up.
Gabriela is currently the CEO for VoiceLove, an innovative technology company connecting the ICU patients to their families and cherished communities. VoiceLove is running clinical trials with Vanderbilt University Medical Center to help patients combat delirium, isolation and improve clinical outcomes with family engagement. Gabriela spent the last 3 years at Avaneer Health which she was instrumental in forming from the Health Utility Network consortium that she established earlier. She served as President, Chief Business Officer and Chief Innovations Officer and established the company’s business case and strategy securing the $50M seed round from the prominent industry leaders Elevance Health, HCSC, Aetna/CVS, Cleveland Clinic, Sentara Corporation, PNC Bank and IBM Watson Health. During her tenure at Avaneer she also led building the brand platform, developing the product, technology research and strategy, corporate strategy and innovation to execute on the vision of improving healthcare experience and accelerating care delivery for people and their families.
Prior to joining Avaneer Health Gabriela spent 15 years at IBM where she served in various leadership roles ranging from business divestitures, business partner ecosystem growth, country and unit CFO. She spent her last 6 years at IBM in healthcare where she started as Life Sciences and Oncology CFO and further expanded into managing the Watson Health $1B portfolio of AI and Analytics Products for Employers, Payers and Providers. She subsequently served as the Blockchain Business Leader when she established with her Payer and Provider clients the Health Utility Network, an innovative consortium to connect healthcare data silos through a trusted secure platform.
Gabriela joined IBM with over 9 years of management consulting, cross-border investment and corporate finance experience in various leadership roles at Air Canada, Union Fenosa, HSBC, Abt Associates, Western NIS Enterprise Fund and Price Waterhouse. During this period, she managed teams from 10 to 250 consultants, lawyers, economists, and other highly qualified SMEs. She enjoyed negotiating business transaction ranging from $50M to $1B for funding, business alliances, assets sale and purchase agreements. She completed large strategic advisory projects for economic transformation, privatization and foreign investment in Easter Europe.
Gabriela holds a MA in International Law and Diplomacy from the Fletcher School at Tufts University and an MBA from McGill University. She recently completed Women on Boards executive program at Harvard School of Public Health. Gabriela lives with her husband in Winter Park, Florida. In her free time, she enjoys reading, gardening, running and yoga.
