Michael Jaasma | Chief Scientific Officer, Bone Health Technologies

Mike is an experienced technical lead in medical device development. He has worked in the medtech space for over 20 years and has led the clin/reg strategy and execution for multiple medical devices, spanning orthopedics, cardiovascular, and neuromodulation for home-use to implantable devices. Mike has a PhD in biomechanics from the University of California, Berkeley. 

Mike is a co-founder of Bone Health Technologies and currently serves as Chief Scientific Officer and Vice President of Clinical and Regulatory Affairs. At BHT, Mike led the clinical and regulatory efforts to obtain FDA de novo approval of the Osteoboost Belt, and his efforts are now focused on overseeing additional clinical studies to provide further clinical evidence for the effective treatment of low bone mass conditions with the Osteoboost Belt.

Previously, Mike held roles in Clinical Affairs and R&D at Theranova (the incubator from which BHT spun out), Nevro, Biomimedica, and Skeletal Kinetics. Mike also was a Reviewer and Branch Chief at the FDA in CDRH (orthopedic devices). Mike has been the Principal or Co-Investigator for 7 funded NIH SBIR grants, with total funding of almost $8 million.

Mike currently resides in Irvine, CA, with his wife and son. He enjoys spending time playing softball and coaching his son’s baseball teams.
